My lit gal has grown up so much!

Weeks back, zoe favourite word is 'ba ba ' and now she started to pronounce something else called 'ma-ma'. Before this she used to called me 'ma' when she's crying .

Learning more vocab as days past by too, 'mum-mum' - food, 'bao-bao' - full ..... and this morning when she saw one our neighbour's baby she actually called out 'baby' loudly! Too bad daddy not around. I'm sure he will be very proud of her!

This morning she asked for my hand and on her the other hand she asked for her daddy's .. its sound nothing till she tried to put our hand together.. Gosh! She was asking us to hold hand! . Aww..... All of a sudden, I felt that she has grown up so much! ...Knowing how to kiss and hug.. starting to draw on the board , and she has tremendous improvement in her vocab nowaday; i wish she continues to read alot as she loves book than toys nowaday.

I can walk!

I can walk! I can, I can, I can!!At last, zoe can walk unassisted, steadily (5 weeks back). She even run instead of walk at times to surprise you.She started to show a lot of improvement past few weeks, beginning she wanted people around to hold her hand to walk every where she manage to squeeze into, then the next thing she wants to walk on her own, banging here and there... poor girl... but not for long...She's an 'expert' now. :P

Phew ~ At last i sometime to log on to my lit gal's world. Really felt sorry for not keeping this blog alive!

Ever since i started my job; i have been busy travelling around. So long i have time for my lit gal i would be very much with her and gotta sacrifice this lit diary of hers.

I knew she will understand one day.. as she grows..

Time flies, she is now 13 months; being able to do so much, from babbling to yelling; from crusing to walking; from feeding to eating on her on, etc.

I really wish i can share it all tonight. Unfortunately, i have an urgent art direction to work on for my design team. Sigh!

Mum used to have this title " SAHM" ( Stay -at-home mum) , recently she has changed her title to WM ( Working Mum ) . Hopefully she will be " WFHM" ( Working from home Mum) .

16th Oct- Mama back to work force! I really miss her .

18th Oct- Kindermusik Class ( Replacement) ; Celebrated my birthday ( Pending post) ; Party was a good one!

19th Oct - Shopping Spree with 姑姑 ( Weekend Outings)

20th Oct - Waiting for Mama. Went for my MMR Jab today.

21st Oct - Today .. is a long waiting day for Mama.. ( Mama promised to be back earlier)
We had lunch together. Then she off for meetings ,..
Had dinner with me.. ( real happy to have Mama around)

I wish Mama can company everyday; however i will support her as i knew she enjoys her new challenge so much . I believe she can handle her new division well.

Why use cloth diapers?

Zoe has been on cloth diaper since newborn. I have ordered the Bum-Genius One size cloth diapers online via miabambina. The package came with 3 colours- White, Pink and Twightlight. Pigeon's Wet Wipes might not be new to all mummies, but this Pigeon's Hand and Mouth Wipes is something new to me. :PBought it yesterday at Isetan at RM10.90 for 2 pack of 20pcs.

Trial-Kindermusik Class @ Desa Park

Today Mummy brought me to a new school @ Desa Park for class.
It was a trial. Since mum going back to work soon; so it will be easier for my folk to travel near. This school which is 5 minutes away from our home.
Frankly; unlike the previous school, this school is smaller in group. So more focused.
However, i am going to miss Ms. Dominic sweet vocal and more "rock" musics. Ms. Sue is softer and therefore, the class seems a little dull! :P
I shall let them decide for me. I love both schools! Hehhehe ..

My trip to Sunway Mall

Regina 姨came to visit us this weekend. I have not seen her since my last trip to Penang. She took her day off and stayed 3 days 2 night at our place.

Mama decided to bring us to a bowling alley at Sunway mall. I got very excited. And why not, the act of bowling involves two of my favourite activities, throwing and destroying.

"哦！婆婆 Kampateh Yo! " ( My Grandma very "yeah" hor?") Hehhe

She knocked down 9 pins !!!!! Hooray ! ( Mama was amazed!)

Being too little to be able to lift the ball, i keeps score.

Wordless Day

Lately, Zoe has kept all her soft toys aside. She has done with those in the basket. She found herself more new Toys.

She is now on Wooden Toys such as wooden beads roller coaster, wooden blocks, wooden puzzle and etc.

Hubby thinks she really enjoys this more than the soft toys. Since 9 months+ she has been challenging herself on the wooden beads roller rails. ( Little gal has done it well!)

And now, the messy her; is actively on her first wooden block!

This few days i was down with flu; and the worst i got Zoe suffered as well! Damn! Today she broke her very first record to Dr. Lai ( Not for regular checkup). She is SICK! Poor baby having running nose! The whole day she threw her tantrums, as she felt irritated with her inspiratory system. She must felt uneasy!

Mama is sorry. (Mama's viruses too strong.)

Shoe problem ( backdated frm Sept)- Shopping

THIS is the only reason why we have yet to get Zoe a pair of shoes. Sigh! It is like the tale of Cinderella's wicked stepsisters' state of affair with the glass slipper. We can get her a bigger size, of course, but then that will be two sizes up and her feet will look like those of Ronald McDonald's, and with about an inch of room at the toe area.

We have been to Baby Gap, Pumpkin Patch, Adidas, Nike, Osh Kosh, Bubblegummers, Poney, and loads more, including Crocs, although I vowed never to get those operating-theatre-plastic-shoes for Zoe. No offense to Crocs fans, of course. It's just that we find the shoe design rather weird, comfortable as they can be. But we are not in disagreement with the flip-flops and sandals, they are, no doubt, light and comfy, and pleasing to the eye.

Zoe's first birthday is coming up next month. And according to traditional Chinese wisdom, it is most fitting for her grandparents to buy her a pair of shoes, for what reason, I have yet to find out. But since I am one who continuously aim to preserve the traditional ways, and hopefully being able to pass these practises down to future generations, I am going to do this now and research about it later.

My mum is rushing me, she shall be the honourable grandparent to get Zoe her first pair of shoes. WE MUST GET ZOE A PAIR OF SHOES SOON IF NOT NOW! Shopaholic Mamas, please help!

Today I took Zoe to Gym&Bouncers Tots. This was her 2nd visit in the month. She got very excited to be back here. And why not, enjoying the slides, rocking horses, crawling and bouncing on gigantic bouncers involves her favourite activies - Rocking , crawling, and bouncing daily.

父母們都希望孩子能夠成龍成鳳，都竭盡所能努力從小開始就栽培孩子，把所有寄望放在孩子身上。。。這年頭的孩子無形中幾乎処在極度壓力的環境中成長。

頓時，多才多藝的孩子就被塑造出來：從上補習班到電腦班，生活營，學畫畫，芭蕾，鋼琴，樣樣少不了。但有時候又不能全怪父母，畢竟現今社會競爭力巨大，不努力向前進的則會被淘汰。

小時候家境平凡，但媽媽也算很努力去栽培我們，上補習班是不可欠缺的。至於芭蕾，鋼琴，在那個時候也許是种奢侈品。雖談不上什麽專業人士，但至少完成學士，做份輕鬆且收入可觀的工作。

今天我身為人母，心裏想者：看到彤彤有些小聰明，以後要怎麽好好栽培她呢？

也是一樣學畫畫，芭蕾，鋼琴。。。嗎？？？

找一所比較規模的幼兒園/學校，讓她有比較良好的環境，接觸比較新的事物？？？

這就是爲什麽一直以來我堅決反對給她就讀“鄉間學校”！不是看不起鄉間學校，而是你要知道城市學校跟鄉間學校確實有很大差異！　

前幾天在跟網友聊到這話題時，本身提出了個疑問：到底是父母要孩子延續自己的興趣/志願，擬或是真正考量到孩子本身的意念？

我想：我不會強逼她做不喜歡的東西，但我會依能力，盡所能鋪一條平坦且正確的路，引導她向前進。

彤彤的第一步 First Step

連續幾天來，彤終于鼓起勇氣放膽開步學走路，雖然只會平衡七八步，但縂是個好的開始。比起同齡的小孩，11個月才開始起步是ok了; 毕竟，女儿已cruising 了好几个月（自8+个月就学扶着走）。但我們並不強逼她，就隨她順其自然吧！畢竟慢點也好，會走後更加頭大！

人小小就有驕傲自滿的心態，才會開步，就露出沾沾自喜的表情；跌倒呢，就“賴”地上的錯，小手猛打地上！（這是媽咪教出來的結果：誰做你就“打”誰！）哈哈。。。此教方蠻成功的，現在凡是有什麽惹到她的事，小手就揮過去了！！至少不必哭，耳根清靜。。。

[本身有個這樣的原則：很討厭每天只會哭哭啼啼，投訴這投訴那的小孩；所以呢，勢必要訓練彤勇敢自立，所以就教她：以牙還牙的道理，光會哭是沒用的！]

其實媽咪知道爲什麽你遲遲不會走的原因，就是怕跌倒！另外就是我們太假手於你了，動不動就扶起你，從來不曾真正放你去跌，去探索，去嘗試自己爬起來。

難怪婆婆要講你：吃肥肥，大番薯啊！

Packing Diaper Bag

Going out with a newborn, infact not only newborn, going out with a toddler, to put it in simple words, is like packing on a holiday. The time you take to get ready is sometimes longer than the excursion itself. Experienced mummies will get what I mean. There's the feeding, poop, clean-up or bath, change, and if baby does not follow that order, you will have to repeat a few of the activities. Anyway, after taking Zoe out on a handful of excursions, I have derived a complete list of what's needed and what not to! Although many can manage with only half the items on the list, it is best to be prepared for all kinds of situations.

Diaper - What can I say, it's the most important item on the list. If you are not bringing anything else, you should at least bring spare diapers. Take more than you think you'll need, as many as one for every hour of your outing. Better safe than sorry!

Travel pack of wet wipes - Handy during diaper change. And they are not just for baby, mummy may need them for wiping hands.

Barrier Cream& First Aid Cream - Very important, though many in our local community ignore it, but it is the best solution to prevent rashes which can cause discomfort to baby.

Cloth diapers or handkerchief - For burping, spit-out or other messes, and sometimes also handy as a blanket if the surrounding suddenly gets chilly.

Rinse Free-Cleanser - This will be good when you need to cleanse the utensils.

Extra shirts, pants and socks for baby - Well, you never know when you'll need them.

Baby sunblock - If you are taking baby out during the day, and spend most of the time outdoors, it is best to protect baby's delicate skin from harmful UV rays.

Baby bottles - If you are not breastfeeding, bring at least two, one for formula and another for water.

Thermos - For water supplies (1 for cold ; 1 for hot)

Baby formula/food - Baby may get hungry in the mid of your outing, if you are not breastfeeding, bringing formula/food is a neccessity.

Toy or comfort object - If your toddler is above three months, and has a toy of his/her own, then you should bring it with you.

Bib - To minimise mess when feeding.

Pacifiers - If you baby uses one. You should bring extras, in case one drops and you have no where to clean and sterilize it.

Mobile phone - Though there is no need to be reminded, many people today cannot go anywhere without their mobile phones.

Index card - Every diaper bag should have an index card of your name, address and phone number should it get lost. Treat your diaper bag like your travelling bag.

Pediatrician's contact - Yes, always have your pediatrician's contact close by.

Changing pad - Comfortable and no mess while changing. Heh-heh, my Allerhand diaper bag comes with an attached changing pad, how great!

Several plastic bags - For sealing and tossing soiled diapers, yes, be responsible and hygenic, do not just leave a mess for others to clean up. Also handy in bringing home soiled cloths, clothing and bibs.

Water and snack for mummy - Hey, please do not forget about your own needs.Seems like a lot of stuff. But, if you should have a proper diaper bag, they should all fit inside without looking like an overstuffed rugsack. My hubby failed to grasp the idea until a couple of outings with a poor excuse of a diaper bag. Our new diaper bag is now the most incredible bag in the world. See for yourself.

Take it to the Next Level

Well, I mean Zoe's baby formula. I fed Zoe with Wyeth formula Gold (S26) since she combined with her breastmilk from 4 mths + . She is fine with it and I am also satisfied with her growth and health too. When she was 6 months old, she was still with S26 (Step 1) + BF. Till 9 months + we have switched her milk to Progress Gold (Step 2) till now.

Now she is going to turn to one year old, so we are planning to change the formula to Progress Gold(Step 3). Normally we will follow the changeover feeding table during this transition. With this guide, we can ensure that Zoe can go through the process smoothly without causing any problem.

Just a sharing on how to do a smooth transition when changing milk powder for baby. I have transition table fr both MJ (meadjohnson) and Wyeth, which I compared and they are the same.

It is recommended that (quoted fr Wyeth transition table)
1) transition is gradual and take 1-2 weeks
2) when baby is in good health
3) the switch should be done in day feeds and not in night feedsI shall use these abbreviations to explain the transition sequence
M - morning,
N - noon,
E - evening,
Ni - Night,
C - Current milk powder,
Ne - New milk powder

Day 1-3 M-C (morning - current), N-Ne, E-C, Ni-C
Day 4-6 M-C, N-Ne, E-Ne, Ni-C
Day 7-10 M-Ne, N-Ne, E-Ne, Ni-C
Day 11-14 All feeds in new milk powder

That way, baby has time to adjust to the new milk powder. Hope that this info helps.
P/S Don't do the mixing of old and new together. Imagine how the taste will be if you mixed 2 different brands together. Ha, ha, that time you just created a brand new taste for baby. I used to do that until more experienced mummies teach me the right way to do it.

Trying out new receipe

I always wonder if mushroom can be used as the ingredient for porridge. I think I have to try it out to know the answer. Therefore, I have bought the Swiss Brown Mushroom for the experiment.I have cut the mushroom into small pieces and also added in some codfish into the porridge.

I was really anxious and keeping my fingers crossed for the result.

OUTCOME:The mushroom made the whole porridge taste so good and sweet. I just can’t believe that Zoe has finished the big bowl of it and even asked for more…I think this “experiment” really yielding fruitful result.

每次带彤彤外出,总会有一些陌生人爱逗她。也因为这孩子的八卦，总爱到处张望，有时候，就连冷酷的印度叔叔，也会对她笑起来。也因为这样，这些陌生人就和爹地妈咪扯开了话题。有时会问，“几个月大啦？”，“会走路了吗？”，遇到真正健谈的，多谈几句，也竟然成了朋友。

人与人之间的关系，有时候就是那么奇妙！有时候我在想，是不是因为这个都市存在着太多的猜疑，太多的诈骗，让大家把这基本的人际关系复杂化了呢？就连一个见面时友善的一抹微笑也变得那么被动，得让一个小孩提醒我们。世界在变，人性也在变，有时候真觉得，这世界如果能少一点纷争，少一点利益的冲突，多一点纯朴，多一点爱，人与人之间会不会多一点关怀？

女人味

由出世至今，经常有人会逗逗彤彤，然后问，“好可爱，是男还是女？”

妈咪常常会耿耿于怀，然后嘟长了嘴对爹地埋怨，“不是已经穿着粉红色的衣服，粉红色的袜子了吗，难道还不够明显？”

在职场闯荡的这几年，感触很深。也渐渐同意了，聪明的女人，还是会选择做回一个小女人，在职场跟一班蛮(man)牛搏斗，回到家，还不是要挑起黄脸婆的角色？何苦为难自己呢？(当然，在现在的经济，已经不是家家都能许可一个全职的家庭主妇了！)

这也是为什么，妈咪给女儿的名字起了一个有活力的意义哦“Zoe ”。希望的是，无论如何，女儿得记得，上帝创造了女人和男人，目的是为了取一个平衡。身为女人，必须记得一个女人应该有的本性,不要样样学人喊"男女平等"的口号!

My first pair of shoes

A day for shoes' hunting. Went to Crocs, Mothercare, Deberhaus, and ..... couldn't recall how many pairs of shoes that i have put on.

Finally i got my first pair of shoes at Clarks. Papa said this will be a good pair of cruising shoes for me!

Your baby is walking! Now is the time to shop for some baby walking shoes. Before you buy, though, check out these tips to be sure you get a pair of baby shoes that will help, not hinder, your baby's walking experience.

When Should I Buy Shoes for Baby?

If your baby is starting to take a few steps, it's time. Many parents prefer to let their children walk without shoes, which is fine. A good amount of barefoot time can be helpful to new walkers, who need to figure out how their feet work before having shoes on all day. There are times, though, when it's dangerous or just plain gross for baby to go barefoot, so all babies need a pair of shoes to protect those sweet little feet from harm.

What Kind of Baby Shoes Should I Buy?

Baby shoes should be soft and flexible so that baby can use his or her feet properly for balance. The bottom should be non-slip and should have plenty of traction, but steer clear of extra-thick soles that might trip baby up. High-top baby shoes aren't necessary for ankle support, but if you do choose high-tops, be sure baby can still wiggle his or her ankles or it may be hard for baby to walk very well. Look for shoes in a breathable material so baby's feet stay cool and comfy. Tips: Must be washable.

How Should Baby Shoes Fit?

Babies should not have to break in their shoes. After your baby has toddled around the store in the new shoes for a while, take the shoes off and check baby's feet for any signs of chafing or pinching. If the shoes rub or seem to make walking difficult, find another pair. You should be able to put your pinky finger in between the heel of the shoe and the baby's foot, and there should be about a thumb-width between baby's toes and the end of the shoe.

Laces or Velcro?

Laces do need to be re-tied a lot, which may send parents in search of Velcro baby shoes. It's a matter of personal choice. Lace-up shoes are harder for babies to take off. Velcro is easier to figure out for the young mind, so be prepared for baby to learn to remove Velcro shoes fairly quickly. Try tying the shoe laces a few times in the store. You'll be tying and re-tying these shoes a lot, so be sure the laces are long enough and easy to work with. If you choose a slip-on shoe for baby, put the shoe on a few times in the store to be sure it slips on easily for dressing but doesn't fall off when baby walks.

When Should I Shop?

Just like adults, babies' feet can sometimes swell towards the end of a hard day. Shopping for baby's walking shoes later in the day will ensure the shoes are not too tight when baby's tootsies are tired. Plan your shopping trip for after a nap or at a time when your baby is normally in a good mood. Getting a cranky, tired baby to walk around and model shoes won't make for a pleasant trip.

How Often Should I Buy Shoes?

Check the fit of your baby's shoes at least once a month. All babies grow at different rates, but you can expect to buy shoes in bigger sizes at least every three to six months. Some babies, like my daughter, will require bigger shoes almost monthly. Check for signs of wear on the shoes and be ready to replace them if the bottoms crack or if there are holes in top or sides. Babies and toddlers will find plenty of things to trip over, so be sure their shoes aren't part of the problem!

Baby sign language is rapidly becoming very popular with many of today's new parents. This early method of communication has so much potential, both positive and negative, that I feel compelled to share some of what I've learned about hand signs for babies.

There are many different versions and styles of baby sign language, but they all have one thing in common - They provide a way for parent and child to communicate with each other long before the infant is capable of speaking. Babies hand signing works because the child can control some of their hand movements long before they can do much with their vocal cords.

Non-verbal communication is very important to a child's early development. It gives them practice in sharing their needs, and lets them exert some degree of control over their own environment. Simply put, non-verbal communication provides an alternative to the usual frustration and crying (which also means a LOT less stress for the parents).

Unfortunately, most words and letters in standard sign languages such as A.S.L. (American Sign Language) are far too difficult for a baby to use. The child is still learning the gross motor skills he or she needs, and is months or years away from having the finger dexterity required for a standard sign language. Further, unless as a parent, we continue to use it themselves, the infant almost certainly will not use the sign language anymore once they have adequately developed their verbal skills.

Non-verbal signing is also a great way to understand what's going on in your child's mind. Most children are able to start using a few different signs by the time they are 7 or 8 months old, and can have a vocabulary of more than 35-50 "words" by their first birthday.

Babies can start using hand signs as early as about 7 months, but what about for even younger infants? In the same way that an infant can communicate with their hands before their vocal cords, they can control the lips and tongue long before the hands. You can start with 1 or 2 "lip signs" almost from the time to time now!

It's fun when you see them progressing .Zoe has picked up a few - like eating, full, milk, ball, bath, bubbles, more, water, drink, apple , flower, cat and dog. I am delighted to see her results and i am sure she will be picking up more soon.

( Do not rush while practising with them; times needed for them to get use to signing. Do start with few common actions - maybe - Eat ( MUM MUM) , drink , water and more. You will be surprised to see how your child responses to you. )Be patient and do enjoy!

Our romp to Kanching Fall

During Raya, we have a day trip to Kanching falls which was located off the trunk road from KL to Ipoh, between Selayang and Rawang.

Scenery beside the highway was spectacular, before reaching Kanching fall you will see this mountain

Along the way, you will see roadsign which state “Hutan Lipur Kanching”

From here you will see resting place, river, monkeys and lots of picnickers.

Of course it pales in comparison to the likes of Niagara, still, we found it pretty awesome.

When we first got down from our car, where the falls are not yet visible, Zoe already made a dash towards the sound. The sound of water intrigues her. When she saw the pool at the bottom of the falls.

We were rather worried, as you can see, the falls is definitely not a friendly place for toddlers. But fortunately for us, there is a shallow pool at the side, fed by several cold streams from the falls. At first the cold water shocked her, but a few minutes later, there's no stopping her from splashing cold water at us. Here's a video of Zoe's at the stream.

When it was time to make a move, Zoe was pretty upset and let off quite a tantrum. But it was a good gathering with our family members.

Am looking forward to more gathering soon. Next in list-Sungai Klah Hot Spring Park or Sunway Lagoon.

Zoe's Menu

Zoe started solid food since she was five months. As advised by doc, we started her off with fruits like bananas, apples,avocados and pears. When she reached six months, doc said we can be more adventurous, and cereals are in order. Many advised that anchovies porridge is best for baby, but hubby is against it. As someone has mentioned to him on processing anchovies. According to him, to avoid flies and insects from hovering around the anchovies while drying, a generous amount of insect repellent is sprayed onto the little fish. Therefore, he wouldn't want that for Zoe. But then, for generations babies have grown up with anchovies porridge, and many still do. And we drink soup with anchovies nearly everyday!

But being the stubborn me, i still forbids him and go ahead! ( No harm if you don't consume everyday. Added on i have invested in a good Food Ozonizer.) We both agreed we don't want processed canned cereals for her.

So we have some guideline on food preparations, especially Zoe's foods. My maid does most of the cooking for Zoe after I show her how things should be done. And she does a very good job, although, according to her, babies in Indonesia grow up on a different menu. I try as much as possible to prepare food for Zoe because I like to experiment with new flavours and methods. And then, seeing her reaction when she makes a new discovery is, of course, priceless.So, after much 'discussion' (with hubby) on the choice of food, research and experiment, Zoe now has a rather extensive menu.

Eggs: ( Must be "kampung eggs" or "omega") - Used to be 1/4 of the egg yolk, now increased to 1/2 of the egg yolk.

Cereals: Giving in to hubby, no processed canned cereals, no sugar , no salt. Zoe now takes home ground oats, millets , barley and rice ( Bario) .

Fruits: Banana (raw), pumpkin, sweet potato, apple,kiwi, papaya, peach, avocado, and pear, all mashed. Although doc also suggests plum, mango (raw) we are still in the process of introducing fruits to her one at a time. So we haven't reach those two yet.We usually mix a cereal and a fruit. That way she gets to experience a variety of flavours.

Meats: lean meat( Pork), breast meat ( chicken), Fishes ( Salmon and Cod fish), scallops

Vegetables: Spinach, Broccoli, Cauliflower,Asparagus, French beans, Tofu. Come next month, Zoe will reach 1 year old. And according to doc, she can start to try more variety in vegetables.

Of course, those might not taste as good as fruits, heh-heh-heh... Wonder how it will go.Anyway, as new parents, we are always experimenting and researching. We will welcome all advise and suggestions.

Potty Train

I started potty train Zoe early this month. I let her wear on training pants and keep telling her “You don’t wear diaper, when you want to pee must pee on potty okay?”

On time to time I will remind her whether she wants to pee. She will hold her pants and give me sign if she wants to. Then I’ll quickly grab the potty and let her sit on. She did have a few accidents pee on pants,maybe my maids are too busy to do house chores and didn’t remind her. I am lucky to have my maids around to give me a helping hand; otherwise, i am sure i will give up easily.( This was after a few outburst on sofa and etc). Now i have to make sure either one of my maid has to potty train her every 30 minutes. This is to let her knows the routine and gets use to it. She even accidentally poo on her pants at times that we have to clean the mess. She would be happy to see the full potty after she has done her business on it and we will definitely praise her.

But the problem now is she never pee on her cloth diaper during afternoon nap. She cried middle of her nap. When I found her cloth diaper is dry, I’m worry she hold it. So I have to hold her to pee on potty.This morning my maid told me she refused to sit on potty but poo twice on training pants. I told my maid to wear her pants and keep reminding her to pee on potty. Hope she can succeed on her potty train. We will be patient and give her more time.

Love Touching

Yesterday as usual we have intimate time with Zoe before bedtime. She is rolling, summersault and walking on the bed. While chatting with hubby on bed, suddenly this little girl uses her hands to push our head close together. Both our face was touch closely side by side. She was so happy saw this. Then later she did it again and again. Hubby move her face in too and 3 of us had a Love Touching.

Time-out

Punishment which involves harsh words, shouting, screaming, hitting a child, in short, aggressive measures will create aggressive behavioral problems in the child. Is that revenge? Certainly not! The child is angry and he is hurting both physically and emotionally. If a punishment is harsh, the child will be angry but sometimes may be scared of the parents and vent his frustration at a younger sibling instead. Instead of teaching the child that whatever he did was wrong and shouldn’t be repeated, the parents are teaching him to become more aggressive or fearful.

In very young children, especially those under 5 years old, they will retaliate by screaming, breaking things, hitting back, or going into severe temper tantrums. The message of teaching something appropriate to the child is lost once the child retaliates!

Yet, if the parents choose to ‘practice’ clam discipline which is basically action for action; minus the harsh punishment, the message of appropriate behaviour would be better programmed into the child’s brain. For instance, if a child has done something inappropriate, create a “time-out” situation. Time-out works very well with children under 5 years. Some parents may grumble that “time-out never works for me – the child is still naughty”.

Thus, there are a few simple rules to adhere to strictly: -

Time-out should never last more then two minutes at a stretch.

Never use the bathroom or store room as a time-out space.

Discipline should never create fear.

You can use a corner of a room with the child facing the corner.

Do no look at or say anything to the child while you put her/him at time-out.

If she/he tries to escape, just put your hands on his shoulder to prevent him/her from going so.

If a child cries, ignore him/her – do not look at and talk to the child until the time is up.

After the two minutes, take the child back to his original spot and leave him/her to do what he was doing previously.

She/He may test your reaction again by doing something naughty – just put her/him back in time-out again and repeat the whole process if the child keeps on doing something inappropriate.

Continue until the child gets the message that every time she/he does something naughty, time-out will be the reaction. I remember a time when I have to put a child in time-out for 8 times within a span of 20 minutes until she/he promised not to repeat his misbehaviour.

It may be exhausting for the parent but believe me time-out practiced correctly can work wonders!

Met up with 婉兰 and her family+ 姑姑's family and my PIL's friend for an imprompt to gathering at our house....It was only decided on friday afternoon and the turnout was pretty good...15 of us :)

I have prepared some snacks and foods for the occassion. We have mixed cussine tonight- Fried Chicken Wings; Curry Chicken; Ceasar Salads; Thai Tong Fun Mango salad ; Sweet n Sour Fillet ; Fried Bee Hoon; Eggs Salad; and some desserts. Yum.. yum..

Pics shown that we were busy with our lanterns...it was quite messy in the beginning as zoe and venice making noises ...and since now Venice can walk, she was walking and running all over the place!! Very active gal! I hope Zoe will join her soon.

Anyways, it was a fun gathering !

Today, Mama brought me to Toy's rus. First Mama was thinking to get me some swimming equipment; ended up notty me got hooked on a "Ride-on cart". I refused to get down; after several persuasion, my folk managed to get me into another toy; yet i chose another ride-on again. Hehehe e.. ( told you i am Genius)

This time i didn't get down, so Mama decided to call someone. She was on the phone for couple of minutes before hanging up and walked to the cashier . Guess what! They wrapped the ride-on Eek ekk .eii.. what's going on? I cried loudly as they have taken it away from me.

Couple of minutes later; Mama calmed me down and carried me out with Kakak holding a GIANT plastic bag at the back. I am anxious to find out what's in it? Issit the ride-on for me?

I’m now trying to learn more about scrapbooking. Many of my friends says it’s easy. But then, i’ve not tried it out yet, nor know where to start, lol. All i know now is that i have tons of pictures in my hard disk ready for action, that’s it!!! I’ve bought two scrapbooking magazines (finally remembered). Will have to read through them when i have the time. Havent got a clue when, okay.

I’ve flipped through a few pages and i must agree scrapbooking is fun and may even stir those creative juices of mine back to live. They’ve been dormant for a looonnnggg lllooonnnggg time di, I’ve seen some featured works in those magazines and i like them very much. To me, they’re more like graphics artwork, but more personal. Gimme time. I need to pore over those mags first.

Good Reasons to Join A Baby Group

Always overheard Moms complaining "No Time for herself after baby; less activities and etc.. or NO LIFE after having a baby!"
~ This is little to share to all my dearest friends.

At the very beginning, you might have some help at home with the baby from a partner, possibly on paternity leave, but after that, many Moms find themselves at home for long periods of time. It can be very tiring and it can feel like you never have a minute to yourself. One thing that is very important is that if the baby sleeps during the day, you should try and sleep at that time also. This will give you more energy if the baby is up at night.

Of course, it’s different for each person but quite often there are milestones where it seems to get easier, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year and so on. Although some of the tasks may get a bit easier and you may get more sleep as time goes on, the one thing that can quite often affects Moms is the amount of time they spend on their own with the baby.

A lot of people will tell you to join a Moms baby group as soon as possible, and in our thought, this is for a very good reason. You might feel shy about joining a group of people you’ve never met before, but straight away, you all have something important in common…you’ve all just had a baby! There is something very therapeutic about hearing other people’s stories about what their babies do and how they behave. Quite often you may worry about something your baby is doing or a funny rash they might have, so when you hear other Mothers saying “my baby does/has that also”, it can be very reassuring.

Another good reason for joining a baby group is you’ll make new friends, in fact in many cases these friend can become your close friends for life. Also, going to a group is a great reason to get out of the house which will help combat cabin fever! And do not worry about cost, baby groups are normally cheap and in some cases, free!! In no time at all, you will be having your new friends to your home for coffee and cakes and you will be going to theirs. All these things will help pass the time and gives the baby / toddler some interaction.

You’ll also find that as Birthdays begin coming up, you will be invited to baby parties or baby showers and this can be a good way for you (and possibly partner) to meet other like minded people. If you are going to anti-natal classes, they have the ability to quite often inform you of local groups, or they are advertised in newspapers, libraries, and don’t forget the internet! I urge all Moms to try.

Today, I've attended the 2nd Kindermusik lesson for this term. I am so

happy that I would be continuing the lessons for another term ( Mum said Shichita class will be postponed till year 2009) as I simply love music. The theme is still the same like last week.But i overheard that next week theme will be "Scub- a- dub- dub." I am sure it will be another interesting lesson. This week, i have explored to few types of Musical Instruments like Cymbals, Tambourine and snare drum.

Mama decided to invite Aunty Wan Lan's family over for steamboat dinner. It was so coincidence that Aunty Teresa also back from Korea. ( Mama said Aunty Teresa has MASTER in Engineering. I must learn from her ooo.. and blah blah blah ; (Wondering) Emm ,..."MASTER"? Must be something very well-done or good about .. Anyway, Congratulation Aunty Teresa! )

Sigh.. is another of the day; Mum was planning to enroll me for Shichita class in Jan 2009 as the next intake for Oct 2008 is FULL;Yet, we were put under long list of "WAITING LIST" today @ centre point for January 2009 intake.

The lady told mum we may need to wait till April 2009 intake.Ohh No!!

Wondering is this Shichita classes that popular? Pretty eager to find out soonest possible.

Too bad; just wait and see. However i am still thankful to papa and mama sending moi to Kindermusik. I do love it.

Mummy and I ( Story Telling Hr)

On Sunday, daddy and mummy brought me to attend my first Kindermusik lesson at Kidz Talent Lodge (Musikhaus) . It was the 11.30am class. The theme for this term is about Village. Daddy took me for the first part of the class and Mummy took over after the break. (pardon daddy for the blur photos!) :P

There were 10 of us in the class. I made a new friend; she is 1 day elder than me (17th Oct), her name is Velarie. Very sweet Jie Jie. Will take some shot together next time.

My enjoyed my class.. to mummy surprised- I behaved well but felt a lit shy to mix with everyone yet! I think i will do better in second class.

We started today with one of my favourite at home "BALL" - rolling, spinning, bouncing, sitting on the ball and etc.. were what i have learned in the class. Teachers used all sort of Vocab and musical instrument in the class. It was great fun!

First time i played a Tamboline and drum. Cool eeii.. ( too bad no pics to show you!) Hope mummy will catch some shots next class.

I learned about " Hickory, Dickory, Tickle & Bounce" . Really loves the teacher sing about!
(Hickory, Diickory, Tickle & Bounce encourages Baby's language development through the rhythmic nature of favourite childhood nursery rhymes. Using basic American Sign Language, this unit offers parents a new way to communicate with Baby before she is ready to talk.

I couldn't wait till next week for more stories telling again.

A lit thought for Mothers- Is being a mummy a bother?

My feeling for this topic is as intensed as what I feel about breastfeeding. So, if anyone is going to get insulted, my advanced apologies.

Hubby and I was out with a relation the other day, and we somehow fallen into this conversation.

Relation: "I really don't understand you guys, bringing your infant together with you everywhere you go. Not mah-fan meh? Every outing is like a long distance trip, the diaper bag, the stroller, the water, etc. Fuss over baby before the trip, fuss during the trip, fuss after the trip. If me, I moh-kam-hou-hei (don't care enough to bother). Why don't you just leave the baby with your maid at home?"

Me: "Oh, we like to spend as much time with her as possible. And we don't think it is a bother."

Relation: "Aiyah, why go through all these mah-fan woh? You cannot concentrate fully on your shopping, we have to look for a baby friendly place to eat and the food is not good, and see, now your daughter is making a fuss and you have to sooth her. Such a bother."

Me: "It's OK, we are fine. You continue with your food, we will just carry her a little."

Relation: "You can see why I don't like to take my kids out with me. They get in the way of everything. Eat also no peace."

I was rather exasperated by her comments. She is a mother herself, how can she feel so little need to spend time with her toddlers. Or maybe, I am a new mummy, and I am finding all these very exciting. Well, of course taking care of a child is sometimes difficult. But, I love the feeling, the feeling of being a mother, of having an influence in how my child grows up, and every bother that comes together with it.

I love the way Zoe senses my presence, by sight or by smell, and bully me into carrying her all the time, and she never cease to amaze me on how perceptive she is.

I love to watch Zoe sleeps, shedding tears of joy whenever I see a funny smirk or stretch herself in her sleep. And I can watch her sleep for hours.

I love to change her diaper, which is very often, while she wails away, but lifted her buttocks for me anyway.

I love her when she wee on me during diaper change, and caught me by surprise.

I love her when she makes a fuss because she is sleepy and gets crankier than usual.

I love her when she disturb me during our outing, and I have to experiment with everything to sooth her.

I love her when she interupt my meals just because she suddenly wants to be held.

I love her when she got into a temper and bite me hard when I feed her.

I love her when she wee on my fresh clothing while I carry her in hers cloth nappy.

I love her when she makes a fuss after her bath because she wants to stay and play in the water.

I love to drag along half the house with me, just so that Zoe and I can enjoy a 15-minute outing.

I love to get into an inflexible schedule just because Zoe needs feeding and sleep throughout the day.

I love to be awaken by her in the middle of the night simply because, I have a baby.

I love to rush home to see her, although tired and restless from work, just so that I can spend time with her.

I love to see her tug at the safety belt of her car seat and complain at times, just so that I know she is safely snuggled.

I love to see my parents fussing over Zoe, and eventually spoilling her with affection, simply because she is their first grandkid and brought them immense joy since the day she was born.

I love to take Zoe with me on holiday, knowing that we will not see as much or have much flexibility or rest, but rejoice in her company.

I love her when she drools on my shirt and in the process, makes herself wet all over.

I love her when she spits milk, making me panic and worried.

I love to hear that I have put on weight from childbirth, knowing that having Zoe has changed me not only emotionally but physically.

I love to sacrifice the option of good food just because I would rather go to a baby friendly eating place with Zoe.

I love to give up my indulgence so that I can channel my funds to lavish everything on Zoe instead.

There are more than a thousand reasons to love being a mummy, and the bothers are a huge part of it, and I wouldn't expect any less.

Guess what .. I really enjoy this! IS EVERY children's HEAVEN! ..

Today is holiday.. Pa and Ma decided to bring me out. We went to a Indoor Theme Park. Lots of rides, and games ; but....Most required ABOVE 2 years of AGE!

"URgghh.. i really hate that! " This has limited a 9 mths + explosure to those "EXCITEMENT"!

Anyhow, i did enjoy my first ride @ The Theme Park!

My 2nd Jab .. Ohh No!

I had an appointment with Dr Wang tonight at 8pm for my 2nd Prevenar vaccination. I had real bad feeling from my 1st Jab, so i started to feel irritated; wondering can my folks don't be so cruel to me?

Dr Wang weighed me and I almost crossed the 9kg mark, I now weighed 8.5kg. After examining me, she told daddy and mummy that he would give me the jab as my nose and lungs are clear. I let out a cry when Dr Wang jabbed me but I stopped quite immediately as I was distracted by the toy that she was waving at me.

Heeheh..

(don't be over happy) I have my final jab when i turn One year old. Hopefully then my skin getting thicker!

My First Prevenar Vaccination

To protect me against diseases such as pneumonia, blood poisoning and meningitis caused by bacteria, daddy and mummy opted for the optional Prevenar jab. I had my first Prevenar jab on Jul 24, 2008.

When doctor checked my gums for signs of teeth growing, I started to feel uncomfortable and cried. Mummy managed to calm me down quite easily. However, I didn't know that the worst had yet to come. When it came to the actual jab, it was extremely painful. I cried out at the top of my voice and still felt a bit disturbed when we left the clinic. Obviously, the aunties at the reception counter heard me and commented to daddy and mummy that I had a loud voice; and I can become a parade commander next time!!!

This is my first time I CRIED during JAB !!!!

I Am 9 Months Old!

I am now 9 months old. I last updated my developments months back, here's an update of my little progress during the past 3 weeks.

Another two little teeth - I have another two little upper teeth emerging (when i was 7mths+), so now I have a total of 4 teeth. Mummy has been finding a chance to take photo of my 4 little white pearlie but I just refused to open up my mouth wide, so no picture for you readers to see, kekeke...

I can crawl( starting since i was 6mths+; now really Zooming) - Now, I can commando crawl, am going to brush up my crawling skill so that I can roam about in the house.

I can do 恭喜 - It depends on my mood if you want to see it.

I can do 拜拜- When i see 婆婆 holding on josssticks.

I can bye bye ( since 6 mths of age) - It is the fingers open and close type; not the hands waving type. Again, whether you'll get to see it depends on my mood.

I can say 爸爸。妈妈。来来。MUM MUM ( Eat) ; and etc ..

I sing and dance when MaMa plays my favourite Barney show - Mr.Golden Sun, ABC and etc.

I can use my index finger to point at things - Mama always says ( in catonese) - “点虫虫，点虫虫，虫虫飞！”

I can stand up ( by holding on something)- I did it steadily; and i am sure i can stand up next month.

I can walk with helps. I wish i can run soon! :P

This long weekend we decided to take a break. My hubby decided to stay away from KL. We invited Danny's family (Ty's cousin bro) to join us. This will be Zoe's first trip since back from Miri.

I have booked ourselves into Renaissance Melacca. This is first outing with Zoe; i was pretty picky on the cleanliness. It wasn't too disappointing afterall.

Calling Nicholas early morning yesterday, fully expecting my mother to board the flight already, to my disappointment, the flight is further delayed BECAUSE of "NO REASON". Gosh! At 7.10am this morning, when I called, my mother was still standing in line, for more than an hour already,and told me that the designated departure time,on 8.20am, is confirmed. I quickly texting Aunty Jany who will be over to airport; during the whole ordeal.

After confirming with Malaysia Airlines that mom is onboard, I feel somewhat better. Mom will arrive at KLIA at 10.15am. In my 25 years of flight experience, I never before encounter flight delay, have you? Imagine that is MAS .. ( I doubt they have good service nowaday)

First day at Immigration -submission of forms

So, early this morning, we were off to get Zoe's a passport. First stop, to a photo studio. I have chosen a traditional studio because they are good with babies and also the pics turn out better compared to a DIY photo box. Because the last time I did one of myself in a photo box, I looked like an illegal immigrant.In less than 15 minutes, they have the pics ready for us. Now, that's a pretty baby!

When we reached the immigration office, we were shocked. It almost burst. Seems like everyone in town decided to get a passport. We got a number, and almost fainted when we noticed that there were not less than 50 people ahead of us. However, the queue is moving rather fast, yup the immigration has indeed improved over the years, so we decided to wait.

Afterall, the waiting area is comfortable, cool and quiet, and Zoe's seems to be enjoying herself.However, no matter how happy she can be, I think every baby has his patience. After a while, Zoe suddenly decided that she doesn't want to wait anymore, and let out a super WAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

When the senior officer heard her from inside the office, she came out and asked for us to hand her our application. We jumped a 90-people queue ; also because she is born in Sarawak. Heh-heh-heh... Not only that, instead of two hours, she got Zoe's passport ready in 15 minutes. When we were walking out, Zoe was smiling.

彤彤 has her first taste of Semi Solid Food

Today Mommy decided that probably it is time to let me try out with semi solid food so she made some brown rice paste for me.

Look at this - My first semi solid food " Brown Rice Cereal" .

It didn't look very appetizing to me but i guess Mommy couldn't be wrong with nutritious food. After all it is her that is constantly taking care of all the meal for Daddy at home. Eventhough Mommy was thinking of making the brown rice with supplement of chinese herbal like 四神 (薏仁，芡实，茯仁，山药 ) and grounded ikan bilis in powder form. However Dr. Lai said its more convenient for Mommy to get the Nestum Gold Brown Rice Cereal for me to try. So Mommy bought a can and put aside her own receipe. She promised to make it one day! ohh .. I didn't mention that eventhough the same stuffs can be bought from stores but probably she believes that brown rice made by her will have that special ingredient called "LOVE" which is not sold else where.

I was initially reserved about the bowl of brown pasty stuff in front of me. Therefore Mommy got both Kak Sopi and Kak Duti to feed me!

but after the initial few hesitant mouthfuls with the paste, I actually started sucking hard on the spoon and swallowing the yummy paste eagerly

Sometimes, i felt reluctant to let go my spoon.

I was enjoying the meal..

Taste Good?! I guess starting from now Mommy will prepare this for my meal! Yummy!

Adorable, Cheerful & Sensitive

Today Mommy brought back my new companion- Dexter. He will be my first Pet. Mommy said i am still too young for Dexter, so meantimes, Mum and Dad will take good care of him for me.Both Kakak Duti and Kakak Sopi will assist mum. So my family members has increased from 3 to 4 of us. Hurray!

Dexter is such a cute adorable American cocker spaniel ( purebreed) . He is 4 yrs old. Was well taken care by Uncle Barry;also Mommy's fren. Today Mommy went to the pet shop and got Dexter's food and accessories + grooming tools. We are all ready for the new member to our home. My Granny and Gu Gu are both excited; i am sure Mommy will take care of Dexter like me.

I wish i can play with him very soon.. i know it will be soon!

This month i was late for my appointment which supposed to be on 19th . Due to Daddy's tight scheduled i visited Dr. Lai today. I was brought to see Dr. Lai and as usual i have to weigh myself.. Guess what ! I am 7kg 100 gram now@ 5th months :) Dr. Lai said i am healthy and growing well. ( This really made my Mommy proud! As i am still on breastfeed at time) Haha...

Yesterday was a shopping trip "again "for Mommy. This time Mommy decided to check out Ikea ( they sell furnitures, bedding and etc) as she was looking for a bench and table for our garden. As i mentioned in my pre-blog; she was busy getting Kakak Duti and Kakak Sopi to redo our garden outside. She was serious at this . You know.. she, the landscaping master,spent the night with papa on the sketching. No joke!

As usual, Sunday the loaded day! Lots of ppl. So Papa decided to wait for Mommy at the Restaurant & cafe. Enjoying his cup of coffee with me.
